これ、切り絵？
切り絵創作家・福田理代さん
ある日、ツイッターで1枚の写真を目にしました。曲がりくねったタコの足は立体的で、すき通った模様は、まるでレースのように繊細です。おどろいたのはこれが、紙を切って作り上げた「切り絵」だということです。
作者の福田さんは、「去年12月にツイッターにのせたら、ものすごい反響がありました。世界各国の方がコメントを寄せてくれて、とてもうれしかったです」と言います。
大作「海蛸子」 制作に2か月
「海蛸子」と名づけられたこの作品は「持てる技術を総動員して作った大作」で、制作には2か月かかりました。福田さんは、時計の修理が専門の会社員で、切り絵は仕事の後や休日などに行っています。仕事もピンセットなどを使う細かい作業ですが、「昔から細かい作業が好きなので、仕事の後に切り絵をしても、まったく苦にならない。むしろ気分転換になります」と言います。
ほかにも「クラゲ」や「ザトウクジラ」など、さまざまな作品を発表しています。深海魚の「リュウグウノツカイ」のうろこは「手がけた作品の中で最も細かい」と言い、その線の細さは0・2ミリほどです。あまりに細いので、まちがえて切って、のりでつなぎ合わせることもあるそうです。
ナイフ、マット、紙、のりの4点
作品は、さまざまな写真を見て、それらを参考にしながら下がきをかくことから始めます。「すべての線をつなぎ合わせなければいけないので、下がきはとても苦労します」
使う道具は特別なものではありません。文房具屋さんで買える「デザインナイフ」と、紙の下にしくカッターマット、紙とのりの4点です。紙は「タント紙」と呼ばれる画用紙に近い紙を使うことが多いそうですが、フィルム加工がしてある折り紙などで作ることもあるそうです。
「美しい」「どんな風に切れるかな」
「自然界にある美しいものが好き」という福田さん。魚のひれや、植物、昆虫などを見ると「どんな風に切れるかな」と考えてしまうそうです。
先日も、中学生の息子さんのスマートフォンの画面が割れてひびが入り、その細かさを「美しい！」と思ったそうです。「その割れたガラスを題材に、『硝子の羽』という作品を作りました」と笑います。
福田さんは高校生の時、友だちへの誕生日カードを切り絵で作ったことがきっかけで、切り絵にはまるようになりました。模様をどんどん複雑にしていくことが楽しかったそうです。
簡単な道具で始められるので、小学生にもおすすめです。「全部つなげて仕上げれば、切り絵となります。没頭できるし、切り心地も楽しい。好きな絵をかいて始めてみてください」

Two months in the making of masterpiece “Octopus”
Named “Octopus”, this work is “a masterpiece created by mobilizing all the technology that it can possess” and it took two months to produce it. Mrs. Fukuda is an office worker who specializes in the repair of watches, and he goes to work after work and on holidays. The work is also a fine work that uses tweezers and so on, but She says, “I like the fine work from the old days, so even if you cut it after work, it doesn’t bother me at all.
In addition, various works such as “jellyfish” and “humpback whales” are presented. The scale of the deep-sea fish “king of herrings” is said to be the “finest of all the works”, and the fineness of the line is about 0.2 mm. It’s too thin, so it’s possible to cut it wrong and glue it together.

4 points of knife, mat, paper, paste
The work starts from scratching the various pictures while looking at them and referring to them. “Because I have a hard time, because I have to connect all the lines together.”
The tools used are not special. There are 4 items, “Design Knife”, which can be purchased at a stationery shop, and a cutter mat, paper and paste under paper. It is said that paper often uses paper similar to drawing paper called “tanto paper”, but it is also possible that it is made of film-processed origami or the like.

Mr. Fukuda said, “I like the beautiful things in the natural world.” When you look at fish fins, plants, insects, etc., you think that you think “how does it cutting?”

When I was a high school student, Fukuda-san began to make birthday cards for his friends, and now she is able to cut through the pictures. It was fun to make the pattern more and more complicated.
It is recommended for elementary school students as it can be started with simple tools. “If you connect all finished, it will be a cut-out. You can immerse yourself and it’s fun to cut it. Start painting your favorite picture.”
