ABOUT ME

A world in black and white, using only one sheet of white paper.”

Born in Japan, 1973

When he was a high school student, he discovered kirie (paper cutout) when he cut a message card into a heart shape because he suddenly felt that the card was not enough. Since then, he has been a self-taught cutout artist for more than 30 years.

Combining his drawing skills honed since childhood with cutting techniques that have been described as superb, he has created works with a three-dimensional feel and playful spirit that are hard to believe that they were all created from a single sheet of connected paper, earning him high acclaim both in Japan and abroad.

The straight and dignified creatures of the natural world, their eyes are expressed in a daringly expressionless manner. What dwells in the eyes of the works created from a single sheet of paper?
